Something thats been bothering me…

As an artist, I firmly believe that everyone has an innate creative spark. One of the most common things I hear when I say I am an artist is “ Oh I don’t have a creative bone in my body!” Or as my husband says, “I can’t draw a stick figure”.  You might think you're not an artist, but perhaps you just haven't discovered your medium  or maybe you just aren’t aware that you are creating art, its just disguised as something else! I wanted to share with you why I think YOU ARE AN ARTIST, so hopefully more of you will take up the title proudly!

Artistry isn't confined to a single skill or talent, art is about expression, exploration, and finding joy in creating something new. Art isn't limited to painting or drawing. It comes in countless shapes and forms, each as unique as the individual expressing it. Isn’t that a beautiful thing!

The way you arrange the books on a shelf, I see all those color coordinated book lovers out there. That’s art. The flowers you plant by your front door, Art. The way you apply your make up, also art.  Story telling, art.  Perhaps you like to make up sing silly songs for your kids, darling, that is art!  Creating and performing whether it is for the public or just for yourself, is art. Your kitchen  flower arrangement, that you picked from your garden may never be shown in a museum, but that doesn’t make it any less of a piece of artwork. We as humans, are creators, it’s in our nature.  I could go on with endless examples of the art we create each day, but the idea I really want to convey to you is if we just shift our perspective just a little, we can start to appreciate our own  daily activities for the creative practices that they are.

Maybe I will dive deeper into finding your art medium in another post - and you have one, I just know it! For now maybe just a little nudge to see things a bit different is all that is needed for today.

Embrace your inner artist!

P.S.   If my teen job at Subway could give me the title “sandwich artist” then you my dear can also claim the artist title!
